Answer. The water problem in Hardas village has become very
acute. The underground water level has gone very below. Women have to go to get
water from the Suru River which is 3 kilometers away from the village.
Solutions:-
(i)
Pipeline was
laydown from the Suru River
(ii)
An overhead tank was
built in the village to increase the supply of water to solve the problem of
acute water shortage.
(iii)
Deepening the
hand pumps and cleaning the wells before rainy season is also a solution.

should attend Gram Sabha meetings? Why?
Answer.
(i)
Gram Sabha is the
meeting of all adults (18 Years +) who, live in the area covered by a
Panchayat.
(ii)
Gram Sabha plays
a key role in making the Gram Panchayat Developments.
(iii)
It is a place
where all plans of the Gram Panchayat are placed before the people.
(iv)
The Gram Sabha
prevents the Panchayat from doing the wrong things like misusing the money or
favoring certain people.
(v)
It plays an
important role in keeping an eye on the elected representatives.
Yes, I think all
members should attend Gram Sabha meetings because they represent their ward in
the Gram Panchayat. Gram Sabha gives an opportunity to participate in the
proceedings of several plans that are discussed in meetings.

Gram Sabha plays
a significant role in the making of Gram Panchayat as they elect their members
of the Gram Panchayat.

(iii)Gram Sabha keeps an eye on the representatives of the Gram Panchayat
and plays a responsible role.

The Decisions of
the Gram Panchayat are informed to people in Gram Sabha.

Answer. The Panchayat of our area decided to build a higher
secondary school for girls in the village. This decision was taken as there was
no school in the village and many people do not allow their daughters to travel
to another village to attend school.

Where
the money came from.
Answer. A major part of the money came from the State
Government and a minor part of the money came from the funds of Panchayat and
also, the villagers contributed as it was for the welfare of the society.
c.
Whether
or not the work has been completed.
Answer. The work has been completed on time as everybody
extended their support.

Gram Sabha:

They keep an eye
on the works of Gram Panchayat.

Gram Sabha
