दुनिया के 20 सबसे ज्यादा प्रदूषित शहरों की एक लिस्ट जारी की गई है और इस लिस्ट में भारत के 13 शहरों के नाम शामिल हैं। 11 मार्च को एक रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित हुई है, जिसमें खुलासा हुआ है कि असम का बर्नीहाट (यह असम-मेघालय सीमा पर स्थित है) भारत में सबसे ज्यादा प्रदूषित शहर है।
स्विस वायु गुणवत्ता प्रौद्योगिकी कंपनी IQAir की ओर से जारी गुणवत्ता रिपोर्ट 2024 में ये बताया गया है कि वैश्विक स्तर पर भारत की दिल्ली सबसे ज्यादा प्रदूषित राजधानी बनी हुई है। साल 2024 में भारत दुनिया का 5वां सबसे प्रदूषित देश बना है। 2023 में भारत तीसरे स्थान पर था।
रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, 2024 में भारत में PM 2.5 सांद्रता में 7 फीसदी की गिरावट देखी गई, जो 2023 में 54.5 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति घन मीटर की तुलना में औसतन 50.6 माइक्रोग्राम प्रति घन मीटर है। इसके बावजूद दुनिया की 10 सबसे प्रदूषित शहरों में से 6 भारत के शहर हैं।
दुनिया के टॉप 20 प्रदूषित शहरों में 13 भारत के शहर हैं।

भारत में वायु प्रदूषण काफी समय से गंभीर स्वास्थ्य जोखिम बना हुआ है। वायु प्रदूषण से 5.2 साल जीवन के कम हो रहे हैं। बीते साल प्रकाशित लैंसेट प्लैनेटरी हेल्थ अध्ययन के मुताबिक, प्रदूषण की वजह से 2009 से 2019 तक हर साल लगभग 15 लाख मौतें हुई हैं।
क्या है PM 2.5?
2.5 माइक्रोन से छोटे वायु प्रदूषण कण हैं, जो फेफड़ों और रक्तप्रवाह में घुस सकते हैं। इससे सांस लेने में समस्या, हृदय रोग और कैंसर तक का खतरा भी हो सकता है। ये गाड़ी के धुएं, इंडस्ट्रियल एमिशन और लकड़ी या फसल के कचर जलाने की वजह से भी फैल सकता है।
