रेलवे (Indian
Railway) को देश की लाइफलाइन भी कहा जाता है, क्योंकि सुरक्षित और
किफायती सफर के कारण लोग रेल यात्रा को ही प्राथमिकता देते हैं।
ü भारतीय
रेलवे की शुरुआत 16 अप्रैल 1853 को मुंबई से हुई थी। यहां बोरीबंदर (वर्तमान में छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनल)
से ठाणे के लिए 34 किलोमीटर तक पहली बार 14 डिब्बों की एक
ट्रेन रवाना हुई थी।
ü भारतीय
रेलवे (Indian
Railway), अमेरिका, चीन और रूस के बाद दुनिया
का चौथा सबसे बड़ा रेल नेटवर्क है और साल 2024 के आंकड़ों के
मुताबिक, यह 68,584 किलोमीटर तक फैला
हुआ है।
ü देश
में फिलहाल कुल 22,593 ट्रेनें हैं। इनमें
से 13,452 यात्री ट्रेनें हैं, जबकि
अन्य में मालगाड़ियां शामिल हैं।
ü मार्च 2024 तक
के आंकड़े देखें, तो भारतीय रेलवे में 14,781 लोकोमोटिव, 91,948 यात्री कोच और 3,18,196 मालवाहक वैगन मौजूद थे।
ü हर
रोज भारतीय रेलवे (Indian Railway) के जरिए
करीब 2.40 करोड़ यात्री सफर करते हुए अपने गंतव्य तक पहुंचते
हैं।
ü वित्त
वर्ष 2023-24 में भारतीय रेलवे (Indian Railway), हर रोज करीब 13,198 यात्री ट्रेनें संचालित कर रहा है, जो कि देश भर के
7,325 से ज्यादा स्टेशनों को कवर करती हैं।
ü भारतीय
रेलवे प्रतिदिन 8,000 से अधिक मालगाड़ियां
संचालित करता है, जिनके जरिए रोज 30 लाख टन माल को लाया और
ले जाया जाता है।
ü फिलहाल
देश में 136
रेल मार्गों पर 69 वंदे भारत ट्रेनें (Vande
Bharat Trains) चल रही हैं, इनमें से कुछ 8 कोच
वाली, कुछ 16 कोच वाली और कुछ 20
कोच वाली वंदे भारत ट्रेनें (Vande Bharat Trains) हैं।
ü भारतीय
रेलवे (Indian
Railway) नेटवर्क का विस्तार लगातार जारी है और हाल ही में
जम्मू-कश्मीर को रियासी जिले में बने चिनाब ब्रिज के माध्यम से रेल यातायात के
जरिए देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों से जोड़ने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने चिनाब
पुल का 6 जून 2025 को उद्घाटन किया था और इसके साथ ही कटरा-श्रीनगर रेल रूट पर
वंदे भारत ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाई थी।
ü चिनाब
ब्रिज नदी तल से 359 मीटर (1,178 फीट) की डेक
ऊंचाई के साथ दुनिया का सबसे ऊंचा रेल ब्रिज और आर्च ब्रिज है। यह
जम्मू-बारामुल्ला लाइन पर कौरी और बक्कल रेलवे स्टेशनों के बीच स्थित है।

extends to 68,584 km.

are currently a total of 22,593 trains in the country. Of
these, 13,452 are passenger trains, while others include
freight trains.

locomotives, 91,948 passenger coaches and 3,18,196

Indian Railway network is continuously expanding and recently Prime Minister
Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chenab Bridge on 6 June 2025 to connect Jammu and Kashmir with different parts of the
country through rail traffic through the Chenab Bridge built in Reasi district
and along with this, flagged off the Vande Bharat train on the Katra-Srinagar
rail route.

The
Chenab Bridge is the world's highest rail bridge and arch bridge with a deck
height of 359 meters (1,178 ft) from the river bed. It is located between Kauri and Bakkal
railway stations on the Jammu-Baramulla line.
