मंगल ग्रह पर दिखा ‘इंसान’? NASA की तस्वीर ने मचाया तहलका, जानिए क्या है पैरिडोलिया! What is Pareidolia?

हमारे दिमाग की एक ऐसी आदत होती है, जो किसी भी रैंडम या बेतरतीब चीज में इंसानी चेहरे या शरीर की आकृति ढूंढने लगता है, विज्ञान की भाषा में इसे 'पैरिडोलिया' कहते हैं। जैसे -  नासा के स्पिरिट रोवर ने नवंबर 2007 में मंगल ग्रह के गुसेव क्रेटर में स्थित होम प्लेट नाम की जगह से खींची थी। इस तस्वीर में चट्टानों के बीच एक अजीब सी आकृति दिखाई देती है, जिसके दोनों हाथ फैले हुए हैं और उसका एक पैर आगे की तरफ है, मानों वह शख्स मंगल ग्रह की लाल धूल पर कदम से कदम मिलाकर टहल रहा हो। 

Our brains have a tendency to perceive human faces or body shapes in random or unstructured objects; in scientific terms, this is known as 'pareidolia.' A classic example comes from a photo taken by NASA's Spirit rover in November 2007 at a site called 'Home Plate' within Mars' Gusev Crater. The image reveals a strange figure amidst the rocks—arms outstretched and one leg stepping forward—appearing as though a person is strolling across the red Martian dust.

इंटरनेट यूजर्स और यूएफओ के शौकीनों ने इसे मार्स बिगफुट और मार्सक्वैच का नाम दे दिया। फोटो के वायरल होते ही बहस छिड़ गई है कि क्या सच में मंगल ग्रह पर कोई इंसान या एलियन मौजूद है। 

Internet users and UFO enthusiasts dubbed it 'Mars Bigfoot' or 'Marsquatch.' As the photo went viral, a debate erupted over whether a human or an alien might actually be present on Mars.

इंटरनेट पर कुछ यूजर्स ने कहा कि यह सौ फीसदी किसी एलियन या बिगफुट की ही तस्वीर है, जो धरती के इंसानों से तंग आकर मंगल ग्रह पर चला गया है। वहीं दूसरी तरफ कई यूजर्स का मानना है कि यह किसी चट्टान की परछाई है, लोग बेवजह अफवाह फैला रहे हैं। 

Some internet users claimed it was undoubtedly an alien or Bigfoot - someone fed up with Earthlings who had moved to Mars. Conversely, many others believe it is merely the shadow of a rock and that people are spreading rumors unnecessarily.

हालांकि, यह फोटो असली है और इसमें कोई छेड़छाड़ नहीं की गई है, लेकिन वैज्ञानिकों का कहना है कि नासा की मूल फोटो में यह आकृति बहुत ही छोटी है। 

While the photo is authentic and unaltered, scientists point out that the figure appears extremely small in NASA's original image.

असल में यह कोई इंसान या एलियन नहीं, बल्कि केवल 6 सेंटीमीटर ऊंची एक छोटी सी चट्टान है। जब फोटो को जूम करके और काटकर बड़ा किया गया, तो देखने के पैमाने का संतुलन बिगड़ गया और वह 2 इंच का छोटा सा पत्थर एक विशालकाय टहलते हुए इंसान जैसा दिखने लगा। 

In reality, it is neither a human nor an alien, but a small rock standing just 6 centimeters tall. When the image was zoomed in and cropped, the scale was distorted, making the tiny 2-inch stone look like a giant, strolling human figure.
