Here’s a clear breakdown of how it works for CBSE students who appear for improvement exams:
1. Understanding the Rule
-
CBSE does not issue a combined marksheet automatically.
-
You will always have two separate marksheets:
-
The original marksheet (from your first attempt).
-
The improvement marksheet (for the subjects you re-appeared in).
-
-
For further studies, jobs, or documentation, both are considered valid together.
2. When You Need a Single Consolidated Marksheet
If you want a merged or consolidated marksheet (with only the latest marks), you have to apply to CBSE for it.
3. Process to Apply for a Consolidated Marksheet
-
Visit the CBSE Regional Office (linked to your school/center).
-
Fill out the application form for a consolidated marks statement (sometimes called "Combined Marks Statement" or "Updated Marks Statement").
-
Submit:
-
Original marksheet (first attempt).
-
Improvement marksheet.
-
A copy of your Admit Card/Registration details.
-
Application form + fees (usually ₹500–₹1000 depending on region & urgency).
-
-
After processing, CBSE issues a consolidated marksheet, which reflects:
-
The latest marks of subjects you improved in.
-
The original marks of subjects you didn’t re-appear in.
-
4. Timeline
-
Usually takes 3–4 weeks after submission.
-
In urgent cases, some regional offices allow a tatkal (urgent) process with higher fees.
👉 In most colleges and universities, you can simply submit both marksheets together without merging. A consolidated marksheet is mainly required for government document verification, abroad studies, or job applications.
