·        Benda lives in the wilds of the Abujh Maad area of (Abujmarh is a hilly forest area, spread over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi) in Chhattisgarh, covering Narayanpur district, Bijapur district and Dantewada district.) central India. • बेंदा मध्य भारत के अबूझ माड़ क्षेत्र (अबूझमाड़ एक पहाड़ी वन क्षेत्र है, जो छत्तीसगढ़ में 4,000 वर्ग किलोमीटर (1,500 वर्ग मील) में फैला हुआ है, जिसमें नारायणपुर जिला, बीजापुर जिला और दंतेवाड़ा जिला शामिल हैं) के जंगलों में रहता है।

·        The Benda tribe, also known as the Abujhmadiya or Hill Maria, are a primitive tribe in the Abujhmarh region of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, known for their traditional lifestyle, including shifting cultivation (panda), hunting, and fishing. • बेंदा जनजाति, जिसे अबुझमाड़िया या पहाड़ी मारिया के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, छत्तीसगढ़ के बस्तर के अबुझमाढ़ क्षेत्र में एक आदिम जनजाति है, जो अपनी पारंपरिक जीवन शैली के लिए जानी जाती है, जिसमें स्थानांतरित खेती (पांडा), शिकार और मछली पकड़ना शामिल है।

 ·        His village consists of three huts deep in the wilds. Not even birds or stray dogs that usually crowd villages can be seen in these areas. • उनके गांव में जंगलों के बीच तीन झोपड़ियाँ हैं। यहाँ तक कि गाँवों में आमतौर पर दिखने वाले पक्षी या आवारा कुत्ते भी नहीं दिखते।

·        Wearing a small loin cloth and armed with his axe he slowly surveys the penda (forest) where his tribe practices a primitive form of agriculture called shifting cultivation. (📷Different names of shifting cultivation)

·        Benda and his friends burn small patches of forest to clear them for cultivation. • एक छोटी सी लंगोटी पहने और अपनी कुल्हाड़ी से लैस होकर वह धीरे-धीरे पेंडा (जंगल) का सर्वेक्षण करता है जहाँ उसकी जनजाति कृषि के एक आदिम रूप का अभ्यास करती है जिसे स्थानांतरित खेती कहा जाता है। (📷स्थानांतरित खेती के विभिन्न नाम) • बेंदा और उसके दोस्त खेती के लिए जंगल के छोटे-छोटे टुकड़ों को जला देते हैं।

·        The ash is used for making the soil fertile. • राख का उपयोग मिट्टी को उपजाऊ बनाने के लिए किया जाता है।

·        Benda is happy that the Mahua trees around him are in bloom. How lucky I am to be a part of this beautiful universe, he thinks as he looks up to see the Mahua, Palash and Sal trees that have sheltered him since childhood. • बेंदा खुश है कि उसके आस-पास के महुआ के पेड़ खिल रहे हैं। मैं इस खूबसूरत ब्रह्मांड का हिस्सा होने के लिए कितना भाग्यशाली हूँ, वह सोचता है जब वह महुआ, पलाश और साल के पेड़ों को देखता है जिन्होंने बचपन से उसे आश्रय दिया है।

·        Crossing the penda in a gliding motion, Benda makes his way to a stream. As he bends down to scoop up a palmful of water, he remembers to thank Loi-Lugi, the spirit of the forest for allowing him to quench his thirst. • बेंदा एक सरकती हुई गति से पेंडा को पार करते हुए एक धारा की ओर जाता है। जैसे ही वह हथेली भर पानी लेने के लिए नीचे झुकता है, उसे जंगल की आत्मा लोई-लुगी को धन्यवाद देना याद आता है, जिसने उसे अपनी प्यास बुझाने की अनुमति दी।

·        Moving on with his friends, Benda chews on succulent leaves and roots. The boys have been trying to collect Gajjhara and Kuchla, from the forest. These are special plants that Benda and his people use. He hopes the spirits of the forest will be kind and lead him to these herbs. • अपने दोस्तों के साथ आगे बढ़ते हुए, बेंदा रसीले पत्तों और जड़ों को चबाता है। लड़के जंगल से गजरा और कुचला इकट्ठा करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। ये विशेष पौधे हैं जिनका उपयोग बेंदा और उसके लोग करते हैं। उसे उम्मीद है कि जंगल की आत्माएँ दयालु होंगी और उसे इन जड़ी-बूटियों तक पहुँचाएँगी।

·        These are needed to barter in the madhai or tribal fair coming up the next full moon. • अगली पूर्णिमा को आने वाले मधाई या आदिवासी मेले में वस्तु विनिमय के लिए इनकी आवश्यकता होती है।

·        He closes his eyes and tries hard to recall what the elders had taught him about these herbs and the places they are found in. He wishes he had listened more carefully. • वह अपनी आँखें बंद करता है और याद करने की पूरी कोशिश करता है कि बड़ों ने उसे इन जड़ी-बूटियों और उन स्थानों के बारे में क्या सिखाया था जहाँ वे पाए जाते हैं। वह चाहता है कि उसने और ध्यान से सुना होता।

Suddenly there is a rustling of leaves. Benda and his friends know it is the outsiders who have come searching for them in the wilds. In a single fluid motion Benda and his friends disappear behind the thick canopy of trees and become one with the spirit of the forest. अचानक पत्तियों की सरसराहट सुनाई देती है। बेंदा और उसके दोस्त जानते हैं कि यह बाहरी लोग हैं जो जंगल में उन्हें खोज रहे हैं। एक ही तरल गति में बेंडा और उसके दोस्त पेड़ों की घनी छतरी के पीछे गायब हो जाते हैं और जंगल की आत्मा के साथ एक हो जाते हैं।

You will realise that in all such cases nature is a powerful force, worshipped, revered and conserved. There is direct dependence of human beings on nature for resources which sustain them.
