द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद अनेक क्षेत्रों में वृद्धि एवं परिवर्तन हुए, जिनके मुददों व समस्याओं को नई विधियाँ ही सुलझा सकती हैं। जो इस प्रकार :-
After the Second World War, there were growth and changes in many areas, the issues and problems of which could only be solved by new methods. These are as follows:
1. कल्याणपरक अथवा मानवतावादी विचारधारा (Welfare Approach)
2. मूलवादी विचारधारा (Radical Approach)
3. व्यवहारवादी विचारधारा (Behavioral Approach)
1. कल्याणपरक अथवा मानवतावादी विचारधारा (Welfare Approach)
विश्व के अनेक देशों में पूंजीवाद के बढ़ते प्रभाव से बढ़ती आर्थिक असमानता की प्रतिक्रिया स्वरूप मानव भूगोल में कल्याणपरक विचारधारा का जन्म हुआ। The welfare approach in human geography emerged as a response to the growing economic inequality caused by the increasing influence of capitalism in many countries around the world.
इस विचारधारा के मुख्य प्रवर्तक या प्रचारक डी.एम. स्मिथ और डेविड हार्वे (David Harvey) थे। The main proponent or propagator of this approach was D.M. Smith and David Harvey.
यह विचारधारा निर्धनता, भूख, बेरोजगारी, विकास में प्रादेशिक असंतुलन, नगरीय झुग्गी झोपडी, मलिन बस्ती व इसके अभाव, जैसे विषयों को मानव भूगोल के अध्ययन क्षेत्र में लेकर आई। This school of thought brought topics such as poverty, hunger, unemployment, regional imbalances in development, urban slums, shanty towns, and the lack thereof into the field of human geography.
1. इस विचारधारा का उद्देश्य है – मानव भूगोल के अध्ययन को मानव के कल्याण एवं सामाजिक चेतना से जोड़ना। 1. The objective of this school is to link the study of human geography with human welfare and social consciousness.
2. इस विचारधारा का उदय 1970 के दशक में हुआ। 2. This school of thought emerged in the 1970s.
3. इसमें आवास, स्वास्थ्य एवं शिक्षा जैसे पक्षों पर ध्यान दिया जाता है। 3. It focuses on aspects such as housing, health, and education.
4. यह मनुष्य की केन्द्रीय एवं क्रियाशीलता पर बल देती है। 4. It emphasizes the centrality and functionality of human beings.
5. इसमें प्रादेशिक असमानता, निर्धनता, अभाव जैसे विषयों के कारणों एवं उनके उपायों पर बल दिया जाता है। 5. It emphasizes the causes and remedies of issues such as regional inequality, poverty, and deprivation.
2. मूलवादी विचारधारा (Radical Approach)
• Radical school of thought employed Marxian theory to explain the basic cause of poverty, deprivation and social inequality. Contemporary social problems were related to the development of capitalism. • कट्टरपंथी विचारधारा ने गरीबी, वंचना और सामाजिक असमानता के मूल कारण को समझाने के लिए मार्क्सवादी सिद्धांत को अपनाया। समकालीन सामाजिक समस्याएँ पूंजीवाद के विकास से संबंधित थीं।

• Behavioural school of thought laid great emphasis on lived experience and also on the perception of space by social categories based on ethnicity, race and religion, etc. • व्यवहारवादी विचारधारा ने जीवित अनुभव और जातीयता, नस्ल और धर्म आदि के आधार पर सामाजिक श्रेणियों द्वारा स्थान की धारणा पर बहुत जोर दिया।
