सैंट मार्टिन द्वीप (Saint Martin Island) की बांग्लादेश की सत्ता परिवर्तन में क्या भूमिका है?
द इकोनॉमिक टाइम्स अखबार को दिए एक इंटरव्यू में बांग्लादेश की पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने कहा है कि उनको सत्ता से हटाने के लिए देश के भीतर अशांति फैलाने में अमेरिका का हाथ है। उन्होंने अमेरिका की एक बात नहीं मानी तो उसने उनको सत्ता से बेदखल करने की रणनीति बनाई। शेख हसीना ने आरोप लगाया कि अगर उन्होंने अमेरिका के सामने सैंट मार्टिन द्वीप (Saint Martin Island) की संप्रभुता छोड़ने की पेशकश की होती, तो वे सत्ता में बनी रह सकती थीं।
कहाँ स्थित है - सैंट मार्टिन द्वीप ?
सैंट मार्टिन द्वीप (Saint Martin Island), बंगाल की खाड़ी के उत्तर-पूर्वी भाग में स्थित तीन वर्ग किलोमीटर का एक छोटा-सा द्वीप है। यह कक्स बाजार-टंकारफ प्रायद्वीप से लगभग 9 किलोमीटर दक्षिण में स्थित है। इसे बांग्लादेश में नारिकेल जिंजिरा (नारियल द्वीप) या दारुचिनी द्वीप (दालचीनी द्वीप) के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह बांग्लादेश का एकमात्र कोरल द्वीप (Coral Island) है। यह अपने नीले पानी की प्राकृतिक सुंदरता और विविध समुद्री जीवों (कोरल्स), के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यह द्वीप शीतकालीन पर्यटन के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। इस द्वीप पर रहने वाले लोग मुख्यतः मछली पकड़ने, चावल व नारियल की खेती करने और पर्यटन पर निर्भर रहते हैं। यहां की जनसंख्या करीब 5,000 है। इस द्वीप पर संप्रभुता को लेकर बांग्लादेश और म्यांमार के बीच समुद्री सीमा निर्धारण को लेकर पहले से ही विवाद था। इन दोनों देशों में इस क्षेत्र में मछली पकड़ने के अधिकार को लेकर टकराव देखा जा चुका है। 2012 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुद्री कानून न्यायाधिकरण ने अपने फैसले में इस द्वीप पर बांग्लादेश का अधिकार स्थापित कर दिया था।

In an interview to The Economic Times newspaper, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the US has a hand in spreading unrest within the country to remove her from power. When she did not agree to one of the US's demands, it devised a strategy to oust her from power. Sheikh Hasina alleged that if she had offered to give up the sovereignty of Saint Martin Island to the US, she could have remained in power.
Where is Saint Martin Island located?
Saint Martin Island is a small island of three square kilometres located in the north-eastern part of the Bay of Bengal. It is located about 9 kilometres south of the Cox's Bazar-Tankarf Peninsula. It is also known as Narikel Jinjira (Coconut Island) or Daruchini Island (Cinnamon Island) in Bangladesh. It is the only coral island in Bangladesh. It is famous for its natural beauty of blue water and diverse marine life (corals). This island is famous for winter tourism. The people living on this island mainly depend on fishing, rice and coconut farming and tourism. The population here is around 5,000. There was already a dispute between Bangladesh and Myanmar over the sovereignty over this island regarding the demarcation of maritime boundaries. There has been a conflict between these two countries over the right to fishing in this area. In 2012, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea established Bangladesh's right over this island in its decision.
