Ø ढलान के विपरीत उठान नहरें बनाना व लिफ्ट सिंचाई करना।
Ø समुद्र को पीछे धकेलकर (नीदरलैंड में) जमीन प्राप्त करना (जिसे वहाँ पोल्डर्स कहते हैं)।
Ø पहाड़ी ढलानों पर (हिमाचल प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड आदि में) सीढ़ीनुमा खेत बनाना।
Ø वायुमंडल से नाइट्रोजन को खींचकर उर्वरक (यूरिया) बनाना।
Ø कृत्रिम रूप से वर्षा करवाना अथवा वर्षा को बरसने से पूर्व ही रोकना।
Ø चिलचिलाती धूप से बचने हेतू वातानुकूलित गाड़ियाँ व मकान बनाना।
