हिमालयी रेंज में 3 तरह की ग्लेशियर झीलें मिलती हैं।
1. सुपरा: ग्लेशियर के ऊपर बनती हैं। इसका क्षेत्र 10-20 मीटर तक होता है। उतराखंड हिमालय में ऐसी 809 झीलें हैं।
2. मोरन डैम: ये झीलें, ग्लेशियर खत्म होने के आस - पास बनती हैं। उतराखंड में ऐसी 329 झीलें हैं।
3. ग्लेशियर इरोसिन: ये झीलें खतरनाक नहीं होतीं। उत्तराखंड में ऐसी 125 झीलें।
