Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree of the family Moringaceae, native to the Indian subcontinent. It is widely cultivated for its young seed pods and leaves, used as vegetables and for traditional herbal medicine. It is also used for water purification. Although listed as an invasive species in several countries. Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, deciduous tree that can reach a height of 10–12 m (33–39 ft) and trunk diameter of 45 cm (18 in).

सहजन (Drumstick tree), वानस्पतिक नाम : "मोरिंगा ओलिफेरा" (Moringa oleifera) एक बहु उपयोगी पेड़ है। इसे हिन्दी में सहजना, सुजना, सेंजन और मुनगा आदि नामों से भी जाना जाता है। इस पेड़ के विभिन्न भाग अनेकानेक पोषक तत्वों से भरपूर पाये गये हैं इसलिये इसके विभिन्न भागों का विविध प्रकार से उपयोग किया जाता है। इसकी पत्तियों और फली की सब्जी बनती है। इसका उपयोग जल को स्वच्छ करने के लिये तथा हाथ की सफाई के लिये भी किया जा सकता है। इसका कभी-कभी जड़ी-बूटियों में भी उपयोग होता है।

Different parts of this tree have been found rich in many nutrients, so its different parts are used in various ways. Vegetables are made of its leaves and pods. It can also be used to purify water and to clean hands. It is also sometimes used in herbals.
The genus name Moringa derives from the Tamil word, murungai, meaning "twisted pod". The specific name oleifera is derived from the Latin words oleum "oil" and ferre "to bear".
मोरिंगा तमिल शब्द मुरुंगई से निकला है, जिसका अर्थ है "मुड़ी हुई फली"। विशिष्ट नाम ओलिफेरा लैटिन शब्द ओलियम "तेल" और फेरे "टू बियर" से लिया गया है।
